ITA International Celebrates 15 Years of Business

NEWPORT NEWS, Va., Aug. 28, 2020 – ITA International (ITA) celebrates 15 years of business today. Mike Melo, chief executive officer, co-founded the business with his wife, Kathy Melo, chief governance officer, in 2005 after recognizing a need to leverage technology, data analytics and subject matter expertise to solve complex mission challenges within the defense industry.

“We started this business out of our house 15 year ago, it’s amazing how far we’ve come since then,” said Mike Melo. “With a recent SBIR contract award win, we’ve diversified our client base and now we’re officially began the transition to a mid-size business – one of the primary goals within our business.”

Last week, ITA was awarded a Small Business Innovation Research (SBIR) Phase III,  five-year $50 million contract by the U.S. General Services Administration to support the U.S. Air Force in consolidating and modernizing electromagnetic spectrum operations at Eglin Air Force Base in Florida.

Data analytics is considered to be the future of ITA, “we’re currently building capabilities so we can work toward a secure, stable and sustainable world,” said Mike Melo. ITA debuted a Data Analytics Center (ITADAC) in 2018 aimed around the mission of “Operationalizing Data to Improve the World.”

“Over the last 15 years, each ITAer has worked hard to develop and maintain trust and integrity in everything we do,” said Kathy Melo. “This milestone isn’t just about being in business for 15 years, it’s about the value we bring to our customers. We cannot wait to see what the future will bring.”
