Newport News, VA. — March 26, 2025 — ITA International (ITA), a leader in technology-enabled professional services, is excited to announce that Barry DuVal, former President and CEO of the Virginia Chamber of Commerce, has joined ITA Growth Partners as its President and CEO. After a remarkable career in business and public service, DuVal will bring his wealth of leadership experience to ITA’s mission of supporting veteran-owned small government contracting businesses. In addition to his new role, he will continue serving as a Senior Advisor to the Virginia Chamber of Commerce through December 2025.
“We are thrilled to welcome Barry to the ITA family,” said Mike Melo, CEO of ITA International. “Barry’s reputation as a dynamic leader who has transformed organizations and championed economic development aligns perfectly with our vision to support veterans in the government contracting community. His leadership will also help ITA in its vision to build a Sustainable Human Ecosystem (SUSHE) centered on creating a secure, stable and sustainable environment.”
In his new role, DuVal will lead efforts to provide strategic guidance and support to veteran-owned small businesses and entrepreneurs. His focus will include owner transitions, acquisition strategies, evaluations and exit strategies. ITA Growth Partners will also assist with full acquisitions, helping veterans and entrepreneurs navigate critical stages of their business journeys.
DuVal brings decades of public and private sector experience to his new position. He served as Mayor of Newport News from 1990-1996, Secretary of Commerce and Trade for Virginia from 1998-2002, and most recently as President and CEO of the Virginia Chamber of Commerce for almost fifteen years. Under his leadership, the Chamber grew from under 1,000 members to over 33,000, launching key initiatives like the Blueprint Virginia economic development plan and the WiseChoice Healthcare Alliance. DuVal’s collaborative, nonpartisan approach has significantly improved Virginia’s business climate, earning the Commonwealth top rankings as the best state for business.
“I am excited to begin this new chapter with ITA International and to lead ITA Growth Partners in its mission to support veteran-owned small businesses,” said DuVal. “ITA has a proven track record of turning challenges into opportunities, and I look forward to working with this talented team. ITA is well-positioned to operate in a rapidly evolving environment, delivering data-driven solutions that adapt to shifting policies and industry demands.” With DuVal’s leadership, ITA Growth Partners will strengthen ITA’s ability to acquire and grow veteran-owned businesses, ensuring they continue to thrive in an increasingly complex landscape.
