ITA International is Recognized for Ongoing Commitment to Hiring Veterans
YORKTOWN, VA – On Thursday, September 28, ITA International was among 15 Virginia employers recognized by Governor Terry McAuliffe during the Virginia Values Veterans (V3) Program awards ceremony held in conjunction with the Virginia Chamber Foundation’s 2017 Virginia Workforce Conference.
As the first to create an official program dedicated to improving the employment of veterans, the Commonwealth’s V3 program provides education, training, and connectivity resources to assist companies in the implementation of nationally recognized best practices in recruiting, hiring, and retaining a highly-skilled, well-educated, and easily-trained leadership talent pool: Virginia’s Veterans.
ITA International was recognized twice during the V3 awards presentation. ITA was awarded the V3 Governor’s Award for Medium Sized Companies for its success in Veteran hiring efforts. Of the 168 new employees hired by ITA in 2016, 110 were Veterans.
ITA is also the first recipient of the new 2017 Trailblazer Award. Selected from the total group of award winners, ITA was recognized as the premier employer for hiring Veterans in Virginia as showcased by its superior efforts in Veteran recruitment, hiring processes, workforce readiness, career development, employee retention, workplace culture, community impact and Veteran marketing.
In his awards acceptance speech, Mike Melo, President/CEO and Co-Founder of ITA, said that
“ITA is proud to be recognized with the 2017 Trailblazer Award. ITA has been actively involved in the V3 Program since its inception and we firmly believe in the program. Helping those men and women who voluntarily signed up to serve our country by providing employment opportunities when they separate is truly an honor and a social responsibility we embrace.”
Founded on the guiding principle of “Serving those In The Arena,” ITA has been an active participant in the V3 program since its inception in 2012, and has been recognized in the last three years for consistently exceeding its annual veterans hiring goal as pledged each year to the program. “As a veteran myself, I understand the challenges of transitioning from a career in military service to a new career in the civilian market. That is why, at ITA International, we always try to hire veterans” according to Mike Melo.
