NEWPORT NEWS, Va., Jan. 13, 2022 – ITA International (ITA) has announced several leadership changes to enhance data-driven decision making, streamline and enrich communications, and further develop the contracts program office.
Mark Honecker, president of ITA Global Security (ITAGS) has been promoted to President and Chief Operating Officer. Beginning Jan. 18, Honecker will be responsible for ensuring the health and success of ITA’s daily operations, including conceptualizing, and implementing business strategies, plans and procedures, and leading employees to maximum performance in alignment with ITA’s “Just Cause,” of working towards a secure, stable and sustainable world.
Prior to joining ITA in 2019 as President of ITAGS, Honecker spent over 34 years in civilian service with the Department of the Navy. He most recently served as the executive director/chief of staff for U.S. Fleet Forces Command. He also served as the Chief Naval Operations Senior Navy Civilian and the deputy commander Naval Network Warfare Command. He received a bachelor’s degree in both business administration and economics, a Master of Public Administration from The American University, has completed the Massachusetts Institute of Technology’s Seminar XXI program in foreign politics, international relations and national security and is a 2009 graduate of the Hampton Roads CIVIC Leadership Institute. Currently, he serves on the board of directors of the Nauticus Foundation and the Hampton Roads Military and Federal Facility Alliance.
Lauren G. Barnes, director of Marketing and Strategic Communications has been promoted to senior director of Integrated Marketing and Communications, effective, Jan. 10. Barnes is responsible for ITA’s brand strategy, public relations, executive communications, and proposal and marketing initiatives.
Before joining ITA in 2020, Barnes served as manager of strategic communications for Huntington Ingalls Industries’ Technical Solutions division. She has also held several prominent communications positions including global media relations manager and social media manager for Northrop Grumman. Early in her career, Barnes worked as a radio show host at WHOV-FM and WFOS-FM. She earned a bachelor’s degree in communications from the Scripps Howard School of Journalism and Communications at Hampton University.
Meredith Melo, manager, Market Development has been promoted to Small Business Innovation Research (SBIR) program manager, effective, Jan. 10. In her new role, Melo serves as the SBIR subject matter expert, responsible for educating both internal and external stakeholders on the specific differences between SBIR Phase I/II/Ill. She will also support the company’s Growth team in pursuit of new work on SBIR contracts vehicles.
Melo joined ITA in 2020, prior to she served as an alumni and student engagement specialist at Virginia Commonwealth University School of Education where she managed relationships with stakeholders, developed, planned and executed engagement opportunities.
